Pre-Med & Pre-PA Internship

Comprehensive Clinical & Administrative Experience for Future Healthcare Professionals
Our mission is to provide a hands-on, immersive experience for students pursuing careers in medicine or as physician assistants (PAs). Through direct engagement in a high-functioning medical practice, interns gain valuable clinical exposure, administrative skills, and mentorship to enhance their applications and prepare for successful careers in healthcare.

Participation

Interns can participate in various departments based on their interests and career goals, gaining hands-on experience in different aspects of healthcare operations. They may rotate between departments or focus on a specific area, ensuring well-rounded exposure to the field.

Clinical Department

  • Schedule patient clinic consultations, ensuring efficient appointment coordination.

  • Scribe for providers and prepare comprehensive clinical notes for patient visits.

  • Organize and maintain documentation within our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, and learn essential administrative processes, including insurance authorizations and order planning.

  • Minimum commitment: 15 hours/week (part-time) or 40 hours/week (full-time)

Surgery Department

  • Assist in preparing surgical clearances to ensure patients meet all preoperative requirements before procedures.

  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance providers to facilitate timely surgical scheduling.Efficiently coordinate and optimize surgical scheduling, balancing clinic time, provider availability, and providers commitments.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional communication with hospital operating rooms, patients, and primary care providers (PCPs) to ensure thorough preoperative evaluations.

  • Gain exposure to radiological imaging review, learning to assess and interpret findings under provider guidance.

  • Draft and finalize operative reports following each surgical procedure.

  • Minimum commitment: 15 hours/week (part-time) or 40 hours/week (full-time)

Research Department

  • Contribute to case reports and research projects.

  • Gain exposure to scientific writing and presentations.

  • Ideal for students seeking research experience with minimal patient interaction.

Interns are expected to:

  • Fully engage in clinical and administrative responsibilities.

  • Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic medical environment.

  • Be professional, punctual, and HIPAA-compliant.

  • Attend training sessions and demonstrate continuous improvement.


Leadership Opportunities & Letters of Recommendation

Outstanding interns who commit to a two-year gap year may apply for Lead Positions, which provide increased responsibilities, leadership training, and direct mentorship. However, only two Gap Year Leads will be eligible for a Letter of Recommendation, ensuring that the endorsement reflects exceptional dedication, deep engagement, and demonstrated readiness for medical or PA school.
